Rising number of old age homes in India

Courier guy said the parcel is on the way, near the gate he comes and asks “ cloud circle apartment opposite shanti old age home ?”  yes comes the answer from the security guard ,now the question is not what the parcel was but has old age homes become a landmark ?  Have we taken our lives to a variegated state inculcating the bitter trend of old age loneliness? It is true that we all are busy ,everyone is trying to survive a hard life , more work and the same pay ,time spent on studies is more than that of sleeping , but at the end of the  day when you are down to yourself ,when your thoughts and moral ask you” have you done what is required to keep your creators happy ? “Since there is rapid shoot in the number of old age homes compared to the 80’s and 90 ‘s we can say the answer is NO for many. Everyone has excuses and reasons to blame but they don’t answer the responsibility one has to live with , life defines certain responsibilities from the very first stage of its cycle, like two bodies mate and have a sibling here one is responsible to the other ,they provide the new comer with food, shelter , love and knowledge required to be independent  and start a living .Now after this phase, begins the reversal where the young blood has to protect the creators .

As mentioned before life is a cycle. This phase of life is when one thinks that he rules the world, when fantasy covers up reality .This phase represents a person twenties .Some have lust and love in their top of priorities . Wrong decisions taken at this phase can also be a cause to rising number of old age homes. Like a son or daughter elopes when their parents oppose their relationship and the parents lay stranded at a later stage with nowhere to go. But if the families are well off then they can survive this situation but just financially not 100 % mentally .It’s time to take sensible decisions as to make human lives better and satisfying.  After all happiness and smiles all around are any day better than sorrow and sadness.

 Similarly when the cycle is traversed a bit more a mature and helpless stage comes .This is when a person in his fifties. The phase where one is in the last lap to save as much as he can into his bank account. An ailing mother or father can become a major source of expenditure like unexpected checkups and hospital visits. This is another situation that makes a person leave his responsibility apart as a son or daughter. At this stage if you are able to support your parents being in a retirement resort then they will be taken care of. Retirement resorts are old age homes that charge more guaranteeing luxury but for a common man it is finally old age home .Even at a retirement resort they might not be happy because physical presence and love are not units like rupee and dollars .

Now when we enter 2013 , there is another staggering fact that Kerala is the state with maximum number of old age homes overtaking metropolitan cities and cities with larger population .Leaving behind this shame like an year that passed by lets welcome 2013 with duties and responsibilities which we are bound to take up as a good citizen and also as a good human being 

Parent - Teen communication

There is an unwritten constitution that parents and children follow, this constitution listed out what is to be considered taboo and what shouldn't  But this constitution has to be changed as generations and life styles change .What was forbidden before is not anymore .If it is not changed ,then the consequences a family will have to suffer will be vile .This is exactly what happened to Akash and his family. Akash had a very unusual death, especially considering that he was a 20 year old  engineering student .Even though his autopsy said cardiac arrest ,the reason for the cardiac arrest is not questioned . Well in Akash’s case it was a drug overdose . He had 8 “SP” tablets which caused his body to shut down . “SP” tablets are spasmo proxivon tablets which are used as pain killer for muscular spasm . The addictive ingredient in this is Dextroproxyphene, which is a mild narcotic analgesic. His parents are still unaware that he had drugs which caused his death. Akash couldn't take the pain of the break up with his girl friend He wanted help, but took resort to drugs. But if Akash had opened up to his parents and if his parents were sensible enough to say “ this is a part of life son ,move on”  he would have been saved ,what they didn't have was a proper communication between them  and the constitution mentioned above should be changed accordingly so that things that happen these days can be discussed.
            Topics like love , addiction ,hangouts should be discussed in the drawing room .Now this might seem hard to digest but the truth is your ward might be having many shady secrets which involves all of these  .More than 80 % of the youth in India consumes tobacco products and alcohol on a socializing basis and how many of you parents know it ?  If these things are discussed without any shame then the use of  mind soothers can either be controlled or even stopped. Same is the case with relationships because we all know that it is natural for people to fall in love and it is not a sin either, but the limits and boundaries should be known. Similarly the type of music one listens to actually states his mental genre. A person listening to psychedelic tracks is not in his best of states. Violence and depression never happen overnight ,it is a gradual and a slow process were one losses the slightest bit of patience to control the mind. The changes in your child’s behavior should be observed and questioned. Same is the case with one who beats around the bush when asked something. If we are able to put in an effective monitoring system then even extremist and terrorist thoughts can be eradicated in young minds as youngsters with a disturbed life are considered soft target .
       Progenitors and terminators are two different shades one light and the other dark. Why be scared of your progenitors?  Everyone has their own secrets which build their world but what matters is how much it differs from the moral and ethics inculcated in us .It is here that we need to bring in a new constitution so that there is an effective rapport between parents and children taking into account the outlook of the new generation and their exposure in all means to the new lifestyles.
